Ending an auction to a high max bid

I have a customer who bid on an item. He wants to make an offer that is higher than his bid and applied this offer as his max offer. It still shows only his original bid. If I end the auction and sell to him do I have to sell at the highest bid or can I sell to his max offer?

You will be charged a final value fee for doing as @jumster2009 says. The only way the bid will increase is if someone else bids. Then the original insider's price will increase too. Be careful. Cancelling bids is not a good idea.

If you end the auction with a bid, you can only sell it to the highest bidder at that bid price. You can cancel the bid and relist as buy it now at the price you want.
