END AUCTION FEE'S
I just started selling on ebay, but wanted to place my product on multiple websites in order to increase my chances of selling the item. I did start an auction on ebay, which ran about 2-3 days before the item ended up selling on another website that is not ebay, so I had to end the auction early. I had no idea there was a fee associated with doing this. My question is, is there a way to sell on here with out doing the auction in order to not risk getting that fee if your item sells somewhere else and you have to end the auction? I love using ebay but it gets me iffy about using it unless I'm sure I am 100% going to be selling the product on this platform.

Let your eBay auction END naturally before listing on other sites. Once the auction ends make the listing on the other sites live for a while, then end them and Relist the eBay Auction. This NOT an eBay problem since you are basically taking a risk double dipping on using multiple platforms at the same time for the same item.
A number of years ago I got a 2nd account started by doing what I described. I took known good selling items and listed them on one ID for a while then Ended listings there before creating listings on the other ID ... it was extra effort but the approach worked for growing the 2nd ID ... but I never had the same item live and active at the same time on both accounts ...

OP3 years agoSo if the auction ends naturally and nobody purchases, there is no fee right? Only when you cancel it while it’s still going?

If an Auction ends with no bids there is no fee. If you end the auction with no bids there is no fee. Below is a link to ending listings and there is a section on Auctions and when Fees would apply. Keep in mind if you use the Reserve price they charge that fee every time it relists so don't use that. Make sure your starting price is high enough that you make a profit on a one bid sale ... more bids would mean more profit.

·3 years agoIf any bids have been cancelled, and you end without a winner, there is a fee of what the Final Value Fee would be if it sold for the highest cancelled bid (the maximum bid, which is hidden before you cancel it).

I don't doubt that eBay charges fees but the operative word they use is "may" in the Help Page chart below.
The OP reports that they were charged a fee but not sure if it was for Reserve price, upgrades, Ending at a time or situation where a fee "may" be charged, etc.

Mentor3 years agoIf you list as a Fixed Price Buy It Now listing, you can end that listing at any time with no fees (unless it has sold to someone).
Canceling a sale is highly discouraged on eBay, whether by ending an auction with a bid, or not fulfilling a sale on a Buy it now.
If you continue to cross-list, please use only Fixed Price Buy It Now listings, and you must end the listing immediately if it sells elsewhere.

Mentor3 years ago@arowen973 A "Buy it now" (GTC - Good til Canceled) listing with NO upgrades has no fees when it automatically Relists each month on the same day it was listed. ANY upgrade like Bold type in the title, Gallery pictures, etc are charged each time the item Relists. Best offer is not an upgrade so there is no fee for that. Did you read through the Help Pages link that was provided for you?

It really is not a good idea to list items for sale on Ebay that are for sale elsewhere.
Even if you did not use the auction format, and chose to list with Fixed Price, someone could buy the item that has been sold elsewhere, resulting in you having to cancel the transaction and refund the buyer, resulting in a defect on your Ebay account and possible negative feedback from the buyer.
