Empty box
FYI e-bay shoppers ~ If a seller on e-bay decides to send you an empty box, the tracking will show that it was delivered to you. You have already paid for the item you never received. The seller will ignore your attempt to get your item or your money back and e-bay will not help solve the issue

OP2 years agoI filed a claim that the item was not inside the box. E-bay immediately closed the case saying that the tracking says....bla bla bla

Yes, that is exactly right, imagine if every customer claimed they got an empty box and forced all of the Sellers to refund ... Selling would come to a rather abrupt stop as Sellers would remove their items from the site.
Now that "the system" has confirmed you actually received something you have to use the other Return claim to send back what you got ... whether that was the wrong thing or nothing at all. The empty box Seller scam has been around for a long time as has carriers opening boxes, stealing the contents and sealing the boxes closed again.
There is only so much eBay, a 3rd party, can do since they don't see the Seller pack the item, the carrier handle the package or the customer open the package ... they are removed from the process.

OP2 years agoYes, very sad. Your last line applies to me. I will use Amazon from now on.

No, you can now file the return since tracking confirms you actually received a package. The claim you filed was about not receiving the PACKAGE ... that claim is based on the carrier's tracking number that eBay monitors.

Actually, if what is in the box is NOT what you purchased you can use the return reason Not as described - does not match pictures or description, take a pic of the empty box, note that on the return flow, use the return link in your purchase history and you do NOT need to involve the Seller. Follow the return claim steps and it will lead to an eventual refund once the Seller has the item back in their possession. If they do not refund you in 2 days per the claim go back to the claim and use the link to have eBay step in to force the refund.
If you file a claim that you did not receive the item the Seller will upload tracking and you will lose that claim.
