Email notifications issue
Is there a way to disable/stop the login notification emails? The ones titled " A new device is using your account ".
Not only is this incorrect(I use the same PC to login every time) but this happens every single time I login to Ebay and it's VERY annoying.
Have looked through all the account options and settings and can't seem to find the option to disable these irritating emails. Maybe I've missed something? FYI, I do not use Apple or Android apps and will not. Only use a PC to shop online, so please don't tell me to refer to the app, never gonna happen.
Amazon, Etsy, AliExpress and others do not do this. Annoyances like this are one of the many reasons why people continue to shy away from Ebay. Maybe someone should fix this problem.

OP9 months agoFair point. I do appreciate your time responding. Was really hoping there was a setting somewhere I'd missed.
Who knows, maybe the dev team will see this and give us the type of controls I've described in the future.
Cheers!

You are entirely welcome!

You are not alone in that hope.

Anything is possible, I suppose. "But don't hold your breath, 'cause it'll make you blue."

OP9 months agoGiven what you've said, it's likely the cookie setting. All of my browsers on all of my devices are set to delete cookies and LTSOs after the browser is closed. This is for security and privacy reasons and shall be changed. This is not an uncommon setting configuration.
So what can we do to get Ebay to give us control of what emails we are sent and when? Or is blocking emails from Ebay the only option?

eBay is unlikely to change its site-wide security policy or its email notifications based on complaints from users that do not want to be informed about potential security issues.
You may be able to set up a filter in your mail client so that certain messages from eBay are not sent to your inbox but are sent instead to another folder or location. Or you may be able to use a different email address for eBay entirely, rather than blocking all email from eBay.

OP9 months agoHope this doesn't seem too arrogant, but yes, they really do need to be concerned with the amount and type of emails that can be annoying to us users. It's not a good look for them when giving us controls over such thing would be a trivial effort on their part.

Mentor9 months agoI don't necessarily disagree that there are lots of annoying emails being sent by corporations.
Good luck getting the corporations to change that, though.
My only advice is that if you want your inbox to only receive certain messages, set up filters to prevent other messages from reaching your inbox and then be very careful who you give your email address to.

Those "new device" emails are triggered by signing in using a browser that has no eBay cookies from a previous sign in, or when using an unfamiliar IP-address.
If you are not using a VPN, hotspot or Starlink network, the problem may be with how your browser saves cookies, or with one of your eBay cookies specifically. Try signing in to eBay using a different browser. If you do not see the message after the second time signing in using a new browser, go back to your original browser and manually delete just your eBay cookies. It is not necessary to delete any other cookies, just eBay's. See if that allows you to sign in without receiving that "new device" message after the first sign-in after erasing your eBay cookies.
