email from ebay concerning their upcoming refusal to accept American Express as a form of payment.
Recently, I received an email from ebay alleging that beginning in mid-August, 2024, they will no longer be accepting American Express as a form of payment for items purchased, asking that I select another form of payment (with providing account details) as an alternative to utilizing American Express. I am hesitant to reveal any other credit card accounts that I have which may be used for future payment(s) via email. Does anyone know if this information and request is legitimate on the part of ebay, or is this an attempted scam by an unknown entity via email in order to obtain credit card account numbers from unsuspecting customers of ebay? Please advise. thank you.

Yes this is legitimate. eBay and American Express could not come to terms on the fees AMEX charges and so eBay is dropping them. You can use any of the other payment methods shown on the item listing after the change takes place.
