Email address associated with the wrong account
Summary: crde-84 reported that their email address has been mistakenly linked to another person's account on a website, which they have never used. They reset the password to check its legitimacy, potentially locking out the original owner. They are seeking guidance on how to disassociate their email and help the rightful owner regain access.
Hello,
My email address appears to have been incorrectly associated with an account on your website belonging to another person.
I have never created or used a EBay account. I never received any activation email for the validation of the email address.
While investigating the issue, I reset the password to verify it was a legitimate account, so the original owner might've been locked out.
Please suggest how to proceed, so that my email address won't be associated with it anymore, and the original owner can retrieve access.
Thank you.

If someone created an account with your email address, they don't need to recreate access.
If the person is a family member, the email on the account can be changed from your email to their email address, as long as it doesn't have your name on the account.
