Ebay's shipping calculator
I haven't sold on ebay for a few years until just recently and after using ebay's shipping calculator for the USPS on several of my items that I have sold I now see that this 'calculation' is way off...shipping estimates are off by over 50% on some items. I have lost quite a bit of money as a result. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Mentor9 months agoI only use USPS Ground Advantage, and find that ebay's calculator is right on. I have my rules to ADD THE WEIGHTS as I use calculated shipping, and find that it often overcharges the buyer, so then I end up issuing a partial refund.

Mentor9 months ago@pcgenterprise Are you entering the correct package dimesons and weight on the listings? Be sure to double check it that eBay is not trying to be helpful and changing your shipping info to the "suggested" shipping.
I recommend using the listing tool that is in Seller Hub on a computer>
To access Seller Hub:
1. Go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/landing
2. Click Start Using Seller Hub
3.To create a new listing click on the blue create listing button on the upper right of the Overview page.
Click on See Pricing Details and and make sure that Auto Fill options are NOT turned on. Let me know if you need help finding that section. It's just to the right of the pricing section.

-Have I experienced the loss? NO, I have never used eBay's advice on shipping.
-I am sure they populate their Shipping AI calculator with information gleaned from other Sellers selling the same or similar items ... but sadly, many Sellers either don't know what they are doing on the shipping end, simply make mistakes or pad the numbers to avoid losing money on shipping.
-When I create a listing I do SEE their suggestions and laugh my head off half the time ... I would either lose money like you or the shipping would be 3 to 4 times what the actual cost should be ... basically pricing myself right out of a sale.
-Get a scale, add at least 2" all round an item and estimate the box size. Put an empty box on the scale too if you want.
USPS rounds UP to the next pound for anything OVER 1 pound so don't bother listing ounces above 1 pound, Just round UP to the next pound.
