Ebays shipping **bleep**
Put an item online to sell, said the item would cost 4.65 or whatever through ebay. Item gets sold, now ebay wants me to pay an additional fee because of the dollar amount of the item. Now the price went from 4.65 to 22.00 **bleep**. You know what the item is I'm selling and you tell me what it is going to cost....THEN CHANGE IT.
How is this legal. And yes....I wont be selling anything else on ebay. Charged over a 100.00 for fees. utterly ridiculous.

You have apparently selected a Flat rate shipping cost, I see $ 4.76 on ALL of your items, that is not eBay's mistake, that is yours in creating the listing and not setting the shipping up correctly.
You need to use the Calculated setting and then use accurate weight and box dimensions. That way Buyers will pay you the correct amount to ship and you can then print your labels through eBay for a discount to offset the fees owed on the Buyer's paid shipping.

OP9 months agoThank you, I am new to mass selling and it has frustrated me about the shipping and handling part. I am trying to be fair to the buyers, at first I was using the post office at 7.50 a package, which is what they charge then I got some complaints about the price. Uggg, still trying to figure it all out. Thanks again for the reply.

The shipping part is something most new Sellers go through a learning curve on. Some Buyers will send a complaint just to see if they can get a partial refund from a new Seller, it never hurts to ask and sometimes it works. I use Calculated shipping and accurate weight and package dimension estimates. Last year I started to offer 20% discount off Retail shipping. To me that part is a break even proposition and since I get a discount printing labels through eBay Buyers see a lower price but I am covered on paying eBay fees with the label discount I get printing through eBay.

Mentor9 months agoCost of shipping is NOT based on cost of item.
Do not have Ebay estimate the shipping cost, you need to base the shipping on precise weight & all dimensions of the prepackaged item and buyer location which can be figured out by using the shipping calculator:

OP9 months agoHow am I suppose to put a shipping cost on the initial post to sell when I do not know who will win the action for the zip code? If it turned out to be more because they lived further away seems like I would get complaints on changing the S&H cost?
Does that make since?

Mentor9 months agoIf you use calculated shipping as per my earlier post you would choose to calculate shipping based on buyer's location. You do not have to enter a zip code other than the zip code you are shipping from.
