Ebays is inflating sold prices

Question

Ebay is being dishonest with the sold search history results . I think its on purpose.

Example:

Item is listed at $850

There is a Buy It now option.

Someone decides to send a offer of $345

Seller accepted the offer.

Item is sold.

Looking back at the auction it will show the item was sold at $850

NOT at the lower price..

What does this do?

INFLATES the price of evey item like this one for future auctions

I have seen items go from 100$ to a whooping 350$ and more all becuase ebay decided it was a great idea to show the BIn price of a sold item and not the atcual price that was accepted..

Sellers become " brave" with there listings and list the same items for the BIN price they think it sold for.

Thus... creating price inflation..

Its just another shady tactic that really makes my blood boil...

ebay does not inflate sold item prices. What they do is put a line through the Buy It Now price when an offer is accepted. (screen shot below) They do not post the offer price, because there may be more of the same item listed, but in better or worse condition and they do want seller's to get the best price they can. The listings below were Buy it Now listings, not Auctions.

I think you are confusing Auctions with But It Now listings that have a best offer option.

Most "AUCTION" format listings do not have the Best Offer option, If they do the seller probably started the listing at a lower starting bid price but is expecting the Offers to be higher than the starting bid price. The Best offer option goes away once a bid for the item is received. In either case a Sold Auction, listing will show the price a seller received for the item.

Some sellers list their auctions with a Buy It Now price which has to be a minimum of 30% more than the starting bid price. If a buyer pays the BIN price, That is what the sold listing page will indicate.

actual Auctions cannot have both a BIN price and Best offer.
