eBay withholding my sons funds - dispicable
My son wanted to try buying and selling used goods without using his own name; as a young teenager, I'm sure everyone can appreciate the risk of public humiliation and bullying. Before going on holiday, he sold his beloved Gucci Messenger Bag, for some extra spending money. Now, the bag was legitimate, and purchased directly from Gucci by myself and my wife for Christmas, and the original receipt was shared in the photos of the product. The buyer bought the bag, it was shipped by tracked special delivery (by me), payment was made to eBay, then my sons' ebay account was suspended permanently.
Now if this was a £10 sale or similar, we wouldn't be bothered, but this was a £700 bag he sold for £370. The cheekiest/most annoying part of this is that eBay found it appropriate to deduct the seller fees before blocking the account.
This is an absolutely disgusting way to treat young people trying to start as an entrepreneur. Because the account is now blocked, it's an absolute joke trying to get in touch with someone in eBay.
We managed to get an email through today finally (like 6-8 weeks from the sale), asking for help to get the funds back to him, but the reply simply stated that the account was suspended. We know this, because he can't withdraw his legitimate funds.
How can you get to someone from ebay to call you? As far I'm concerned, this is straightforward theft by stealth, and is an appalling way to do business. For reference, the buyer was thrilled with the prompt delivery and the condition of the bag (as new).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
