ebay will not reply to question asking why not seller protection for delayed delivery
I sent a package using ebay shipping and the post office did not scan it as arrived or as departed from a postal sorting center. The buyer did an INR claim after a few weeks and ebay refunded the buyer. The item was $9.99. The post office delivered the package the day after the refund which was a few days before the estimated delivery date. Postal tracking showed out for delivery and delivered and no tracking at any postal sorting center. I did appeal to claim as the package was delivered and ebay denied the appeal. I thought there was seller protection and asked ebay to refund my money and they would not. Ebay said I had to contact my buyer and ask him to send me his email so I could have paypal send him money request but policy says they will block a message with an email address? I asked ebay many times about my seller protection and not one reply answered why I do not have any protection. I was finally able to get paid but had to pay paypal another fee. As a seller I have no control what the post office does or does not do. Ebay announcement says sellers are protected and since the final destination was NOT in a hurricaine state I got screwed with the delivery delay. Is theire any way to get ebay to respond to this problem?

·1 year agoThe carrier the seller chooses to use (or make available as one of multiple options to buyers) is the seller's agent, not eBay's or the buyer's, and the seller is financially responsible for loss, damage or delay. The buyer might have a moral (and possible legal one but you'd have to take it to court over a $9.99 item) obligation to repay the seller (many do) or return it (at seller's expense) if the delay caused it to be not wanted, but eBay is not going to enforce that.
Seller Protection covers specific situations, and even for items delayed by hurricanes etc. the seller still has to prove timely shipping (either any scan within the handling time--which the seller can insure by requesting the scan while handing the package to a clerk with the ability to scan it--or a delivery scan within the estimated delivery date CALCULATED AND GIVEN TO THE BUYER AT PAYMENT) and the remedy is limited to removal of feedback and late shipment dings (which shouldn't apply anyway if there was a timely scan within the handling time). https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/seller-protections?id=4345&st=3&pos=1&query=Seller%20protections&intent=seller%20protection&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1267 NOT any refund of the amount refunded to the buyer.
