eBay will find any reason to charge you more in fee's
I sell sneakers and designer goods on eBay. Everything we sell is first authenticated before being posted on eBay and sent in to their authentication center. We have had many designer items not pass eBays authentication (mostly designer shoes and bags) but will pass any other website that authenticates our goods such as grail, goat, stockx and The Real Real. We have never once had an item come back from other sites like eBay does. out of the 800 items sold in the last year, eBay has sent back just over 20. They are now charging my account an extra 5% in that category as my item described rate is at 4%. Some of these items that didn't pass, we re-listed and sent back in to have them pass another authenticator..... How is that possible... Items we know are 1,000% authentic. At first eBay was looking at the past 3 months to calculate if they are going to charge us an extra 5%. Well in the last 3 months, I've been extremely carful and have limited the items I sell on here that don't come with the original receipt. My sales have been consistent over the last 12 months. Since my last 3 months have had no issues, this month eBay decided to looking at the last 12 months now.... They are doing this to ensure I have to pay the extra 5% on my sales. How are they gonna look at the past 3 months for 6 months in a row and the month I would be above their standard, they decide to look at the past 12 months........ They only care about how much money they can squeeze from your sales...

OP4 months agoRecently we sold an LV bag that was in excellent condition. 1,000% authentic. The bag failed authentication due to having a smell? Which is subjective. I rel-isted the bag on eBay. Didn't do anything to the bag. Reshipped the bag in the same exact box and sure enough it passed the next authenticator without issue.... That return counts against me and allows them to charge me the extra fee's on my sale. Thats just 1 example. I purchased an LV shoe about 5 years ago from summer set mall louis vuitton store. Sold them on eBay, their authenticator sent them back because they couldn't be verified. I then resold them and included my original receipt which i found in the next listing. They passed without issue..... So eBay has a hard time authenticating items that dont have receipt? Again that return counts against me and now ive been stuck paying an extra 5% for months and months now
