eBay Website Error - "Problem is on our end"

Question

About a month ago, I started having an issue where when trying to log in or surf eBay products, I get an error saying "there is a problem on our end" followed by a long cryptic set of letters and numbers and then a button to go back. This is occurring with incredibly annoying frequency - multiple times in a session, on multiple machines connected to different networks. WTF?

Try another link to rule out a bad link.

Try another browser to rule out a browser issue.

Try another device to rule out a device issue.

Try another network connection to rule out a network issue, particularly if you are using a VPN, hotspot or Starlink network.

Try another site such as ebay.ca to rule out a problem with ebay.com.

If the problem is happening on multiple devices using different network providers, try to rule out any common security software, common browser add-ons, or device settings.

Try another eBay account to rule out a problem with your account.
