eBay want permission to deduct money from my bank account.
I listed something on ebay for the first time in years and now i'm receiving a message that the buyer has paid for it but ebay is holding payment and I will not be paid until I give ebay permission to take money DIRECTLY out of my checking account. I would never agree to allow any business or person to take money out of my bank account. I have no problem with ebay deducting fees from my sales but allowing debiting directly from my account is not thinkable.
"you authorize eBay Commerce Inc. to debit your bank account for amounts owed to eBay"
How do I cancel the sale, refund the buyer, pay eBay their fee and tell them to F#%K off.

If you cancel the sale, you will have to fund the refund to the buyer. Then eBay will release the payment. But to receive the released payment, you must provide your checking account.
You agree to the eBay user agreement when you list your item for sale. This includes abiding by the money back guarantee. If a buyer doesn't receive their purchase, or returns an item due to damage, defects, etc, eBay must be able to refund the buyer if you do not handle the issue.

OP2 years agoI tried to just refund the buyer but eBay wanted me to pay $1325 with a credit card or debit. card to refund the $1525 They have already received from the buyer and are holding. Now eBay says "cannot issue a refund at this time because a case is open for an item". Why can I not contact someone from eBay to resolve this. I have been selling and buying on eBay for over twenty years and this is the first time anyone has asked for a checking account and routing number so they can withdraw money from my bank whenever they feel like it. Honestly, I feel like a porn star who forgot the safe word, there is nothing I can do to stop this nightmare and it just keeps getting worse!

That is exactly what I described - you have to fund the refund, then eBay will pay you the buyer's payment - but you must provide your checking account for this payment.
They do not deduct money whenever they feel like it - they only deduct costs for which you are liable when you do not have pending funds to cover it.
If a case is open, you must issue the refund through the case.

OP2 years agoClicking on the ? in the lower right of that page just leads to a FAQ page with a couple of links that lead back to the enter your bank account and routing number never ending loop. I would love to talk to someone. The automated text just keeps telling me to enter my checking account and routing number over and over again. It is really a simple problem. I listed some thing on eBay, which I now regret. The high bidder was $1525 and the winning bidder paid eBay $1668.99, eBay charged sales tax witch they should not have, In Nevada privet party sales of vehicles are not charged sales tax. eBay is charging $266.21 in transaction fees and holding $1303.34 because I will not give them my checking account and routing numbers, allowing them to willy nilly deduct from my bank account. Just refund the Buyer $1668.99, Bill me the $266.21 (i would gladly pay rather than the $1303.34 eBay says I have to pay to cancel the deal because they have put a hold on the $1525.) And I can list this and all future items on CraigsList, Amazon,or whatever.

OK, I guess you don't get the help link until you are set up.
They are not picking on you - if I needed to cancel an item I sold, I would have to cover the refund if I did not have a released payment to use. It is how refunds work for all of us.
I don't know why you think eBay will take money from your bank on a whim. If you thought so little of them I don't understand why you wanted to use their platform.
