Ebay violating its own policy regarding what vendors can say about eBay members
Summary: michaelg264 expresses frustration with eBay's handling of feedback from a seller who accused them of fraud in a comment but left a positive rating. They reported the issue to eBay but were dissatisfied with the response, as eBay sided with the seller, stating the feedback did not violate their policy. Other participants mention the 90-day deadline for feedback removal and share similar experiences, emphasizing the challenge of addressing misleading feedback after this period. michaelg264 remains upset with eBay's policy enforcement and considers leaving the platform if the issue is not resolved.
Below is eBay's policy regarding seller feed back :
If you think a buyer has breached any of our policies, please report a buyer to let us know. Bear in mind that leaving a positive feedback rating with a negative comment can cause confusion for other members and will therefore be removed.
I found the feedback below posted 5 times on my feedback page, all with + feedback scores. I found these months after they were posted because I only looked at my 100% positive feedback score (24 year member of eBay) . It never occurred to me that someone would have defamed me so blatantly and maliciously.
🔴🔴🔴SCAMMER ALERT! Opens items Not received cases... Has done it TWICE 🔴🔴🔴🔴
Websters defines "scammer" as ... "a person who commits or participates in a fraudulent scheme or operation ...." Aparently eBay does not follow their own policy, and will stand by disgusting vendors instead of protecting the entire eBay community, as it claims to be it's goal. This same vendor in the resolution of this issue said this about me to eBay reviewers:
"This is the 2nd time this buyer has done this.. Both times it says delivered. i Blocked buyer to prevent anymore false claims."
This all came about because of the USPS false tracking information posted to eBay when these items were delivered somewhere other than my address. I simply reported that I not yet received anything as USPS tracking claims. I said I would wait a while to see if they show up. In both cases the packages arrived in my mailbox within a few days. I never asked for a refund, but simply followed eBay's recommendation i.e., notify the seller, and the mechanism for doing this through eBay is how I proceeded. I have always tried to do the right thing and have never had any problems with eBay vendors until now.
I am exceedingly disappointed in eBay and will be leaving if this is not resolved. It is a matter of principle. This vendor is openly accusing me of fraud with absolutely nothing to support it. They are guilty of libel against me, and apparently eBay is now allowing vendors to treat people in as nastily as they wish, even when it is in clear violation of their own policy.

Mentor2 weeks agoHave you tried having an eBay agent call you? Because of the age of the feedback, it may not be removable. You will need to scroll around until you find the option to have an agent call you.

Unfortunately, all these feedbacks were left more than a year ago. The deadline to request feedback removal is 90 days from the date of the transaction.

OP2 weeks agoThey were all posted more than 90 days ago, but less that 6 months. I have 100% feedback after 24 years on eBay, so I rarely go back and read the details. I have never had a vendor pull this trick. They wrote an inflammatory feedback but left a + rating which is why is sat unanswered for more than 90 days.

OP2 weeks agoEBay's rules state that they will remove negative feedback posted by vendors with a + score. I have always assumed that eBay enforces it's policies regarding this. Instead they say that libeling me by accusing me of fraud is not a violation of their policy when it clearly is. In fact knowing all the facts eBay is now assisting with this ongoing libelous activity!

I believe if these feedbacks had been reported to eBay within the 90-day deadline, there is a good chance they would have been removed.

Mentor2 weeks agoI got one of those not too long ago. But only one. A negative in positive feedback. I think it's now buried by other feedback.

Mentor2 weeks agoDid you ask eBay to remove it here?

OP2 weeks agoYes I did, and they ruled in favor of the seller not because of any 90 day rule. They said this instead: "We looked into your report and didn’t find the content to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made by a customer service agent. Their policy is clear yet they make this statement. Shame on eBay!
