EBAY / UPS FRAUD
Has anyone encountered what I have noticed as rampant fraud by Ebay and/or UPS.
I have repeatedly shipped electric guitars in shipping boxes where the total weight is 20 pounds.
Weeks later, EBAY wil "adjust" the shipping cost claiming the packages weighed 60 pounds and then Ebay attempts to charge me more shipping costs based on this fraudulent data.

OP6 months agoThis is happening repeatedly and Ebay has given me refunds in the past. I am talking about 20lb packages being fraudulently listed at 60 lbs.
This is fraud - not an error.

OP6 months agoEbay is aware of this issue and yet they keep trying to steal money from their customers. This needs to be addressed right away.

Mentor6 months agoeBay does not make the shipping charge adjustment. UPS makes the adjustment and eBay must pay them the difference which they pass on to you. All shipping carriers now use DIM (dimensional) weight to determine the shipping charge. If your package is larger than one cubic foot then DIM weight is used and not the actual weight of the package. Also, the shipping carriers will have a surcharge for long packages which can be substantial. Your problem is with UPS and not eBay.

OP6 months agoOK, how do we address it with UPS? The end result is the same - Ebay customers are being charged based on fraudulent data. The amounts are not rounding errors - they are doubling the shipping fees in many cases. - we are talking about hundreds of dollars in adjustments in only a few items.

OP6 months agoWell, in any event, EBAY should notify its customers. This is fraud any way you slice it because the package dimensions are listed AT THE TIME THE LABEL IS PURCHASED and then Ebay tries to collect double or triple the amount weeks later.
