eBay unable to verify my 10 year old account

Question

I am trying to sell for the first time. I have been using eBay for 10 years now. However, when I tried to list an item for selling, it says I cannot be verified. I called eBay they said there is no way to verify me and I should open a new account.

How does this make sense? How would they even verify the new account in the first place if they cannot verify this account?

Please advice.

I prefer using my current account and not creating a new one. Why can't eBay send me a verification code to my address?

How did you "call Ebay?". Ebay Customer Service does not have a direct phone line.

If you want to sell on Ebay using the account you posted with, you will need to register your account as a seller:

You will need to provide the following:

Full name
Address
Date of birth
Social Security Number (SSN)

To verify your bank account, Ebay will need:

Name on the checking account (must match the name on your Ebay account)
Bank name
Routing number
Account number
