eBay took the money out of my bank account

Question

Why did eBay take $55 out of my account? I refunded a buyer because the item was broken but the thing is I never received the money. I thought the money was just being held by eBay. Why did they take it directly out of my account and it doesnâ€™t seem like I can get anyone on the phone to discuss this

@jperr_62 I understand it's confusing but that is the way refunds work. I recommend using a credit card for your back up payment method for selling fees to keep refunds from coming from your checking account.

Refunds, even for order cancellations, come out of your available funds not pending or held. If you do not have available funds then eBay charges your back up payment method for selling costs.

Have you entered your backup payment method for selling costs here: https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list Select Manage under the method you want to use then select Preferred for selling costs. I use a credit card.

Once you issue the refund and the buyers funds are released from being held or finish processing then the buyers payment is released to you.
