ebay told me to contact them but i can't find a way to do it to save my life!
Summary: casey062 is frustrated after dealing with a seller who did not fully disclose an item's condition and became hostile when addressed for a refund. Unable to contact eBay directly, they opened a dispute with PayPal, which led to a message from eBay suggesting they should have contacted eBay first. krazzykats and comics-scifi-collectibles attempt to explain the correct process for filing disputes with eBay and provide ways to contact customer service, but casey062 remains unable to find a satisfactory contact method, feeling the automated system is inadequate. comics-scifi-collectibles advises against canceling the PayPal dispute and suggests letting it resolve through PayPal.
i had a difficult time with a seller recently. he did not show full pics of the item he had for sell and was hiding the rust it has on it. when i messaged him to get a full refund, he got hostile. i could not find a way to message ebay so, i opened a dispute with paypal. ebay sent me a message saying next time to ask them to step in instead of filing a dispute with paypal. however, that message they sent me telling me to contact them does not even have a reply button on it. i've spent almost an hour now trying to find a way to contact ebay. i even called paypal and asked if they knew how to contact ebay. this is one of the stupidest things i think i have ever seen. ebay wants me to contact them but does not give me a way to do it. i even googled how to do it and the steps google gave me did not even work. anyone got any ideas?

OP2 weeks ago · Editedi'm going to copy and paste what ebay said to me in their message.

they want me to call paypal and tell them i didn't mean to file the dispute. they also gave me a link to click on to get in touch with them but it just sends me to the same ai bot i have been dealing with. i need to talk to a human being because my issue is too complicated to deal with the ai bot that keeps giving me options to click that are not what i need to ask about. telling it i need to talk to an agent just makes it tell me that it does not understand and i need to rephrase the question.
so, in summary, they want me to call paypal and cancel my dispute but they give me no option to call them nor contact them in any way(not even an email address) and file a dispute.
did they just send me this message for the fun of it or is there some way to contact ebay, as they requested i do?

Mentor2 weeks ago@casey062 yes i read your post.
You said you went to PayPal because you had problems with the eBay case. So I explained filing cases.
You asked how to contact customer service which I gave you the contact options for customer service.
I don't like the wording of the eBay message. What they are saying is if you didn't mean to file a refund request with PayPal then you can cancel it.
HOWEVER >>>
Do NOT cancel the PayPal dispute. Let it finish. You can't come back to eBay to file a case. You need to let the PayPal case finish.

Mentor2 weeks ago · Edited@casey062 Contacting customer service is not needed for refund request cases and may actually cause problems with your case. As @krazzykats stated eBay can no longer assist with your refund since you went to PayPal.
Here are the steps for filing a refund request AND how to contact CS
You just file the refund request case from your purchase history.
For items that are not as described you can also start from this page within 30 days of the date of delivery for most items> Return an item
Then 4 business days after filing a refund request you ask eBay to step in and help from the case if the seller has not refunded you or issued a return shipping label.
Here's how to contact a general customer service agent, but it really is best to file your own case>

2. Select a category that best matches your problem.
3. Answer the chat bots question by stating what you need help with. Be brief, don't go into details.
4.Type AGENT ( you may have repeat steps 3 and 4)
5. Request a call back or live chat. (Note that the contact options vary depending on the topic and staffing availability)

OP2 weeks agodid u read my post?

Mentor2 weeks agoToo late if you already opened a case with PayPal. You should have opened a case first with eBay, then with PayPal.
I don't think you can undo that now.

OP2 weeks agoit kept wanting me to use the sellers return policy. i did not see an option to ask ebay to step in even after he got hostile with me. there was no way for me to call ebay or chat with a rep to know what to do further. and i'm sure the same thing will happen again if faced with a similar situation in the future.
