eBay told me not to ship an item

What do I do if eBay tells me not to ship an order because of a problem with the buyers account? The item is waiting for shipment. I assume I'll receive a defect for not shipping on time.

It's a tricky situation

Typically, if eBay cancels the sale, you get to keep the buyer's payment.

eBay is removing the buyer from the platform for some inappropriate behavior.

If the buyer paid, that money should still be in your account.

eBay removes buyers and sellers from the platform for violating policies (inappropriate behavior)
When they do that, they remove the transaction from history, which cancels the sale.

Now, since you haven't shipped yet, I advise you do one of 2 things

- Cancel the sale for problem with buyer's address (this will refund the buyer)

- Ship the item.

Cancelling will avoid a potential credit card chargeback from the buyer.

There is no defect for cancelling for problem with buyer's address
It will prevent a late shipping mark

Shipping is probably ok, even though eBay said not to.

I would cancel.
