They have bills to pay just like we do.
You might do all the work on your end, but who do you think keeps the site up and running?

Mentor3 years agoThe government taxes you. You don't pay taxes to eBay, nor are you an employee or a slave. You are paying for a service that you made the decision to use. No one is forcing you to use eBay.
Your eBay fees are paid to facilitate your sales from start to finish and bring your item in front of millions of potential buyers (providing a website to list on, tools to list, promote your items, collect your payments, and provide discounted shipping. There is a built-in communication system, a dispute resolution system, a feedback system where your eBay reputation is maintained and shared with the public, a community of fellow buyers and sellers, I could go on if you like... It takes thousands of employees to do all of this. But if you can do that yourself or somewhere else for less, go for it.
