eBay Taking Refunds for Exchanges

Question

I had a buyer receive the wrong item, it happens. They returned the incorrect one, and I mailed them the right one, as it was an exchange, not an actual return. I tried to tell eBay this, but they ignored me and yanked the money out of my account anyway. I'm trying to be a good seller here, but I need some help on eBay's end. Maybe have 'exchange' as an option instead in addition to 'return', or loosen the automatic taking of funds, or have actual people read the responses to messages sent to sellers.

Since eBay closed the case (and ignored me) I can't appeal and I can seem to find any halp on the site at all.

I'm out around 30 bucks. That may not mean much to eBay, but it does to me.

This is not the first time this has happened.

You can get the buyer's Paypal address and send a Paypal invoice so the buyer can send the refund back to you.

@tpstewart First thing you want to do is require an RMA code for your returns.

This slows down the return process. In the future though I would not try doing exchanges. I would have the buyer send the item back, refund then they buy the new item.

Since the buyer does have the item and refund now the only thing you can do is hope the buyer is honest and pays you back.

#1 You will need to ask the buyer for their email address to send them a PayPal invoice

#2 You can share your PayPal email and they can send the money as friends and family ( if your PayPal is not a business account) Or they can use something else like Venmo.

#3 They can snail mail you a check
