ebay stole $570 from my gift cards. do not use credit cards to buy ebay gift cards.
I hope people are able to help me.
I hope people will tell many people to never buy ebay gift cards with credit cards. This is the first time I have had a company steal money from gift cards from me. When a company takes money off a gift card before a transaction has been completed, it is stealing.
ebay should have a dedicated email address dealing with gift card problems that let people send order information, other gift card info.
I bought 2 $200 ebay gift cards and $170 ebay gift cards with Capital One Shopping rewards. I was able to put 2 gift cards on the order. The website would not let me add a third gift card.
When I tried to add the third gift card later in the day, the first 2 gift cards disappeared from the transaction.
When I checked the balances, they were all gone.
Ebay chose to steal money from the gift cards. Money from gift cards should not be permanently removed when a transaction has not been completed. Ebay committed fraud and stealing. My recommendation is to never use credit cards to buy an ebay gift card.
I cut and pasted the 3 ebay gift cards into an email to ebay. I do not think the employee read the email at all which said I used Capital One Shopping rewards to but them.
Ebay could contact Capital One Shopping to verify I purchased ebay gift cards. Ebay did not do this because it believes providing lousy customer service will help it steal from customers.
I am 56 years and not tech savvy. I do not know how to do what I have been asked. If employee had bothered to read email, would know I got them from Capital One Shopping so email does not show sender's name and recipient. It has email address for Capital One Shopping
Capital One Shopping has a Gift Cards purchases page that shows the ebay gift cards, purchase date, order number, and security code. I was not asked for this. Like I said previously - I do not think the employee read the email I sent telling ebay I used Capital One Shopping rewards.

- A handwritten note containing your eBay username and the current date. The handwritten note must be included in every photo.
For digital gift cards, all of following information is required:
- A photo of the redemption code(s) email confirmation with header information. Header information must show the email address of the sender and recipient.
- A photo of the receipt or purchase confirmation email used to purchase the eBay gift card(s)
- A handwritten note containing your eBay username and the current date. The handwritten note must be included in every photo..
Documentation must also follow these guidelines:
- Only photos are acceptable. Photocopies will not be accepted.
- The accepted file types are JPG, PNG, BMP, or GIF formats.
- Do not cut off or crop out any part of the gift card or receipt.
- Digitally edited or altered photos will not be accepted and may result in a denial of your claim.
- Do not submit any personal information, such as your social security number or the password to your eBay account. This information should remain confidential and will not alter the result of your claim.

In response from where? Where and how did you find the website where you purchased the gift cards? How did you complain? To what email? Copy the email address you got that response from. Because that response sounds like a scam itself. eBay doesn't need to see the front and back of a gift card in order to ascertain it's status, or any of your financial documents. You may have fallen for a gift card scam, but it doesn't sound like it was with actual eBay. You should change ALL of your passwords now and run all your maintenance/security software. Good luck!

OP6 months agoI have the Capital One Shopping extension.
The Capital One Shopping extension helps you get cash back on purchases. I got back 50 percent cash back for Filson and 60 percent cash back for Carhartt. You get shopping rewards 90 or more days after your transaction. If transactions do not show up, you need to contact Capital One Shopping.
I showed ebay that I used Capital One Shopping rewards to get ebay gift cards. I showed ebay the digital electronic gift cards I received.
I added 2 ebay digital gift cards to my order. When I tried to use the third ebay gift card, I was not able to do so.
I tried to use the third ebay gift card later in the day and I had technical difficulties with the website. The first 2 ebay gift cards were no longer attacked to the purchase of a cell phone. When I checked the value of the gift cards, they had no value. I explained this to ebay and ebay does not care. When a company takes money permanently from a gift card before a sale has been completed, it is theft. Ebay has chosen to steal from me.
I recommend only using Capital One Shopping rewards to get ebay gift cards.
Ebay refuses to contact Capital One Shopping to verify what I have told it show it may steal from me.
Ebay knows I am not able to do what it has asked because I did not get the gift cards from ebay. No human being purchased ebay gift cards for me.
Ebay has chosen to be a criminal organization dealing with gift cards. I hope you will warn others.
If gift cards disappear from a transaction before it has been completed, you will be out the value of the gift cards and ebay does not care.

Not only eBay gift cards, the same thing can happen with any gift card. If you're buying them for yourself, an eBay gift card is a way to pay for a purchase if you don't have a credit card or one of the other electronic methods. But to give as a gift to somebody else, no way I ever do that. There's always that chance of their being corrupted, but my peeve is that a gift card limits you to redemption at that one specific place. When I give a gift, I don't buy that kind of gift card, but instead I present a generic "gift certificate". I'm sure you've seen them: they're green on the back, have a picture of a dead president on the front, and a number on every corner . . . they're accepted in every store in the United States, indeed in almost every country on the Earth.
