Ebay Standard Envelopes not being scanned at Local Post Office, Negatively Affecting my shipments
Hello,
I am a new seller. I shipped cards out (my 2nd and 3rd orders) using Ebay Standard Envelope on the morning of April 15th from an order I received on April 13th. (My settings are 3 business days).
They never showed carrier scanned. On the 20th, a few days before expected delivery, I asked the post office about the items, and they said they have no way of scanning the labels. (I showed the man working the ES tracking number, and he said "We don't have anything to do with Ebays tracking, we don't scan those."
However, on April 29th, well after the delivery window, these are showing as scanned, and delivered a few days later, and now it is negatively impacting my seller rating.
My request to have the defects removed was denied.
Is there a way to prevent this? What do I do in the future? There are already a couple other orders that say "Label created", but do not showed "Carrier scanned" despite me dropping them off at the post office either same day or day after they are ordered.

Mentor5 months ago@lysseon Are you dropping them in the metered mail box? Ask the postal worker the best place to drop off metered mail if they don't have a special drop box.
eBay Standard Envelope is a Metered Mail shipping method and the tracking can only be read by the sorting equipment. You can't look it up on the USPS site like regular tracking you have to use this tracking tool> https://www.trackmyshipment.co/
If a buyer files a not received refund request then you can file an insurance claim to get your money back. See this link>

For future shipments I recommend dropping your envelopes in the metered mail box at your post office.
You can also review this post by a fellow Mentor that has screenshots of proper packing as the envelope must remain flexible enough to easily bend around standard coffee mug to be read by the sorting equipment. The example is for coins but the same rule applies for post cards and trading cards. A high volume card seller said that he uses a few sheets of standard printer paper around the card to protect it.

OP5 months agoThank you for your reply.
I am handing my items directly to the post office employee.
Thankfully, the buyer did not request a refund, as the item now shows delivered. I believe I am following the requirements for the envelopes as well, as I researched a lot before I started selling cards. (and I am only selling cards worth a few dollars right now anyway until I get a better feel for it.)
I also have my very first shipment (which the buyer has left feedback for me, saying great packaging and delivery) that still shows "In transit".
If that gets marked to delivered, will I be penalized?
How can I ensure that when I ship an item out within my handling time, I will not be penalized for it if the post office doesn't scan it or mark it as delivered?

Mentor5 months ago@lysseon The postal counter worker can't scan these. That is why I said to look for a METERED mail drop box if one is available.
As for your shipping metrics if you do have a not scanned on time ding you can contact customer service to ask about having it removed as long as it gets a scan somewhere and the buyer leaves feedback.
I would ask for help on Instagram in a PRIVATE message>
