Ebay Standard Envelope Nightmare
I am a new seller and I have to believe I am missing something and the eBay standard envelope shipping option is not actually as terrible as I am experiencing. I have sold 6 items so far and this is the disposition of the shipping of the items:
1- Delivered
1- Showing label created but not carrier scanned
3- Reached destination city but not marked as delivered
1- In route but showing "Internal delay"
The 3 that reached the destination city have been there over a week and one buyer has now opened up a not received claim.
All items were dropped off at the same local post office. My local post office says they field 5-6 complaints a week about this type of eBay package and the tracking being so lousy. Meanwhile all of my funds are on hold with the exception of the one marked delivered. I am a veteran ecommerce seller on other platforms but have never in my life run into so many issues as I am currently with the standard envelope.
Is this normal? I am ripping my hair out here and eBay support keeps giving me canned responses. Can someone chime in and let me know what I can do as a seller other than never use that option? I sell low dollar sport and collectible cards so it seemed like the perfect shipping option for me but it has turned into a nightmare.

Mentor1 year ago@bigfootboys_cards Be sure that the envelope is flexible enough to bend around a standard coffee mug. Also there are envelope size and type requirements. They often do not receive delivery scans, you just have to rely on your buyers to report if there is a problem.
eBay Standard Envelope
eBay Standard Envelope is a Metered Mail shipping method and the tracking can only be read by the sorting equipment. You can't look it up on the USPS site like regular tracking you have to use this tracking tool> https://www.trackmyshipment.co/
If a buyer files a not received refund request then you can file an insurance claim to get your money back. See this link>

For future shipments I recommend dropping your envelopes in the metered mail box at your post office.
You can also review this post by a fellow Mentor that has screenshots of proper packing as the envelope must remain flexible to be read by the sorting equipment.

OP1 year agoThanks for your reply. Unfortunately this is the same canned responses eBay support gives. We have gone through the requirements very closely and I am quite confident we fit all the requirements regarding the envelopes, after all one did get delivered. However this appears to be a very crude and somewhat ridiculous process because if it is well known that many of these envelopes don't receive delivery scans then why are my funds still being held until it is marked delivered? That doesn't seem like a well thought out procedure.
Also does anyone actually have a working link to the page about filing an insurance claim because the link provided in the canned responses on this thread is the same broken link that ebay support provides. To be honest this whole process is a very bad look for eBay as it relates to new sellers.

Mentor1 year ago@bigfootboys_cards. I agree that the shipping method leaves a lot to be desired.
I didn't know that my link was broken. Sorry about that.
