eBay standard envelope mailers being returned
Lately I have been having the post office return items that I send in an eBay standard envelope. The weight on these packages is less than 2 ounces. So I pay the shipping rate for 2 ounces. But the post office has been sending them back to me saying "returned for postage 49 cents" It looks like they are saying that the total cost is $1.36 when it is $0.87 according to eBay. I have not had this problem before. It is new. Is any one else having this issue and any suggestions as to what I should do about it?

Mentor2 years ago@claudiscot_8 That looks like it is probably too stiff. The envelope needs to bend easily around a coffee mug so that it can go through the sorting equipment.

OP2 years agoAlso, I don't ujnderstand why it is returned for postage due. eBay says it is .63 for up to 1 ounce, .87 for up to tow ounces, and 1.11 for up to 3 ounces. I have no ability to increase the cost to 1.36 as the post office has indicated it the postage cost for my 1.5 ounce package

Mentor2 years ago@claudiscot_8 It's returned for postage due because this is metered mail that MUST be machinable. So the post office is charging the non machinable not tracked postage rate., You can buy that type of postage at the post office counter if you wish.
Your problem is your envelope is not meeting ALL of the program requirements. You are just considering the weight. You need flexibility too. I saw a post from a high volume card seller when this program was fairly new that said he put 3 sheets of plain white paper folded around the cards in a standard white envelope. The paper evened out the envelope so the cards were not damaged in the equipment and it was flexible enough to go through the equipment so the tracking could be read.

OP2 years agoThank you very much for the info. All of my cards have gone thru in the eBay envelope with no problems but the last batch I ordered is much stiffer than the previous ones. I will try the 3 sheets of paper method. Thanks again!
