Ebay standard envelope item never arrived but tracking says delivered
I had a buyer contact me yesterday and reported that his purchase never arrived but I used eBay standard envelope that has their tracking and it shows the item delivered three days ago I didn't have any Reason to really doubt this guy it was only a 3.00 purchase and he lives in Chicago, so I assume that it was dropped off at the wrong address by the postal service so I went ahead and issued a refund for him because I really didn't see a reason to cause a problem over 3.00 but my worry has become what if this was delivered and he just wanted his money back,? What is the policy for refunds for items that were shipped and delivered using eBay? Did I do the right thing or did I open the door for this to become a frequent problem that will determine my future lol?thanks in advance and have a Great safe 4th holiday

Mentor3 years ago@jespar-1728 If tracking shows delivery then you are not required to issue a refund. You can just respond in the case with the tracking number and you win the case.
The eBay standard envelope is not regular tracking as it's only read by the sorting equipment at the post office. This means a delivery scan will occur prior to actual delivery.

OP3 years agoThanks for your response and helpful information that will help me out in the future no doubt, I issued the refund just to avoid any problems, 3bucks or so its worth it the guy wasn't rude or demanding a refund he didn't even ask for one now I think about it he just said hey I never got this and ebay tracking said delivery was 3 days prior to that I jumped the gun I'm sure I just don't want to open a door for dishonest people who could force me to give one just because I gave this one, didn't know if there was a rule for that but I believe every situation will be different and independent of the others.
