ebay Standard Envelope
Hello fellow ebay sellers!
I just started selling on ebay in the last month in the trading cards and video games category. I sold a buyer a trading card and have been using ebay standard envelopes for the cheap effective shipping they provide. The buyer at first told me the package was saying it was delivered but it wasn’t there yet, and mentioned he knew from selling that they sometimes have issues w/ the tracking due to not being scanned in at the post. He now claims he got his package but wants me to refund him $3.87. (The order total was only 2.50 + .88 for shipping). He sent me a USPS receipt stating “Short Paid/Other Postage Due†and claims it is because of the way I sent it. Can someone please explain why this would happen & if I am at fault here? I am trying to learn & fix this issue. Thank you.

Mentor2 years agoMost likely it was the cardboard that caused the problem. The Standard Envelope has specific requirements for use and one of them is that it must be able to go through the machines. The cardboard probably would not allow the envelope to bend its way through the machines so the PO tacked on a surcharge the buyer had to pay.
Here is a link to the requirements for this class of service: https://pages.ebay.com/ebaystandardenvelope

OP2 years agoAnd just to preface, I ship just like this, with 2 thin pieces of cardboard, the toploader, and an extra card in the envelope and it weighs in less than an ounce.
