eBay spam!
Everyday I go into communication preferences and turn off all emails being sent. Then I come back the next day and they are reselected and the emails don’t stop. How do you permanently shut off emails from eBay spam?

Mentor2 years agoHi @timesignatures
After un-checking the boxes, are you clicking the Save button?

OP2 years agoYes, thank you. It’s been 3 days now, unchecking everything, then hitting save, then checking that it was unchecked after save, but I come back the next day and they are rechecked somehow. I understand certain email will come from eBay regarding notices, ect. These are marketing emails based on my search. I also understand that eBay’s statement of please allow 10 days to remove you from list, (because there is no tech out there that can do it quicker) but these items are rechecked.
I will try a browser instead of phone. Possibly it’s in their user agreement that you must get certain marketing, but then why allow you to uncheck. Thank you for your prompt response.

I work on a laptop. My settings are sticking and working, so maybe the problem IS related to using your mobile device. It's worth giving that a try!

OP2 years agoHello, this is still occurring in web or iPhone. The items are rechecked after save. For web it comes back the next day, for iPhone it rechecks instantly. For iPhone, go to Settings > Email, uncheck any items, then leave screen and go back to Settings > Email, and all is rechecked, there is no save button for this screen on iPhone. I have further deleted all watches items and sellers. Maybe eBay will not allow you to not receive marketing from them? Thank you for any insight.

You have probably accounted for this, but just to double check, you're not overriding the settings you've changed on the web with trying again on the app, correct?
I'm at a loss as I'm not experiencing this problem with the settings using a computer. You might try posting on the Mobile Apps board for help from someone more experienced with it here:

OP2 years agoI will review that possibility although I’m a software engineer so hopefully it’s not user error. It may be that if there are things in my watchlist, or saved searches and it may recheck to accommodate those features. Another possibility is my iPhone is set to use Apples VPNs, for security, which may trigger eBay security user confusion based on the IP constantly changing. My iPhone is also in dev mode for Apple developers.
I’ve tried on my desktop browser today, which gave different feedback upon saving.
Thank you for your continued review and assistance.

OP2 years agoNo matter what I do they get rechecked. Doesn’t matter what browser, eBay app or anything else. It’s obvious they are auto configured for eBay marketing and can’t be turned off. Not sure why they have the option. It appears since this post they have removed these configuration options on their site, although still visible in iPhone app, which never saves your changes to email marketing, I can no longer locate them in the website… ??
