Ebay sold my item for starting bid price instead of Buy it now price.
My earrings were listed on eBay for $3,000 at a starting bid price. The buy it now price was 5,200. I received an email from eBay that my earrings were sold for $3,000. Why were they sold at the starting bid price? This was not my intention. Why is this bidding process not working correctly?
Thank you

Mentor8 months agoA bid is intent to buy. It is a sale. You should always price your items where if one bid is made, you are happy. You have to honor the sale.

OP8 months agoWow, now I understand. It was suggested first by eBay to start with $200. Good, I didn't do that.
Thank you for your help.

The same thing could happen with your current listing.
It’s a shame you decided to learn how eBay works with items listed for thousands of dollars.

Mentor8 months agoThe auction is working correctly. You entered $3,000 as the minimum start price. Someone bid that price. The Buy It Now price of $5,200 is for anyone to use if they did not want to bid and wait for the auction to end. On most auction listings, the BIN price goes away with the first bid (except in 4 categories where it stays available until the bidding gets to 50% of the BIN price).

OP8 months agoI still don't understand. I should receive a message stating that I received a bid, not that is sold? How can I cancel this sale?

Mentor8 months agoNo the minimum bid is meant to be the lowest price you will take. The buy it now is the price that a buyer can use to buy it now.
eBay also has best offer which allows buyers to make offers which you can review and choose to accept but this isn't what you had.
