eBay showed me purchasing an item I never bid on (though it was on my watch list).
I'm wondering how I bought something at the full price (the seller offered it to me at a discount) but I never went through the purchase by taking the seller up on his offer. I also show no e-mail evidence that I purchased this item. Just that it was sent by the seller. What is being overlooked here?

Does the item appear in your Purchase History?
There are multiple ways to commit to a purchase. Placing a bid, making an offer, using a buy-it-now link, adding an item to a cart and requesting an invoice are the most common pathways.
Viewing an item listing using a touchscreen device such as a phone, and then putting the device in your pocket has been known to lead to "pocket purchases" similar to "pocket dialing".

OP4 months agoHey, thanks for your reply! This involves an item that was offered to me for a discount price and was on my watch list. The purchase seemed to have gone through when I paid for something else, I had bid on and won. Curiously, the purchase I didn't authorize also went through with the original asking price (an extra $5.00). My concern is for this not to happen again. Did I somehow overlook something? This has never happened to me before with nearly 30 years of selling and especially buying on eBay.

It sounds as if you may have put the original item in your cart, then did not notice it was there when you checked out and paid for your next purchase, buying both at the same time.
