Ebay Shipping Labels Undercharged a Customer, and I lost money in the sale.
I changed nothing in the package shipping information, and the customer was charged $4.84 for shipping. The actual label calculated at $7.36. I lost $2.52 in the sale. How do I complain to ebay and get a refund? The AI chat bot is of no help. Thank you!

You do not. eBay will not refund for this.
Sellers are responsible for all information in their listings. This includes the correct weight and dimensions entered in the shipping area.

For weight, I have a scale.
For lighter items (under 1 pound), I get the weight of the item, then add approximately a few ounces for the packaging, etc.
Please note: I only do this for the lightest items, and I am very familiar with those shipping weights.
For bigger items, I pack them right into the shipping box and weigh/measure everthing.
If it makes you feel better, I bet every seller on here has made the occassional shipping error (underestimating size/weight), so don’t feel bad… and at least it was a small amount. I have fielded questions where the discrepancy cost hundreds of dollars more.
Best of luck to you.

OP1 year agoI have a postal scale, and measure everything carefully, so I still don't understand how ebay miscalculated this. But thanks for trying to help.

First, eBay did NOT miscalculate the shipping, you made a mistake. Just yesterday a Seller said the same thing and when I checked their listing it showed USPS Ground Advantage of $ 4.84 from California to PA for something that would never ship for that. The nearest I can tell is that $ 4.84 would cover a large flat envelope weighing 2-4 ounces ... One of your coin lots shows the same price from Florida to PA. I suspect you selected the Large flat envelope and not package in your Shipping section. You can check what your settings were by using the Sell Similar on that sold item and see what the shipping settings are, Sell Similar creates a duplicate listing. Take a screen shot of that and share it here. You can then select Save for later and the listing will move to your Draft file and you can delete it from there.
