eBay shipping labels

Question

I am just starting to sell items on eBay. I don't understand the eBay shipping label benefit. The eBay price for shipping seems ridiculously lower than what the USPS offers. How is that possible? What do I need to know?

The eBay labels are printed online and are eligible for online rates.

If you take the package to the Post Office, the rates are significantly higher in some cases.

They are called counter rates.

With the exception of media mail, printing and using online postage is a better price than taking them to the counter and paying there.
