ebay shipping cost quoted vs. charged
I made a sale. The amount I charged for shipping was quoted by ebay. When the item sold ebay charged me more than they quoted. Nothing changed in the size/weight of the box. I cant seem to get out of their auto-answer loop to get info. thanks.

If you looked up a rate and entered it as a flat amount, it will never match. You want to enter the weight and dimensions of the package - in the box it will ship in with the packing materials - and select calculated shipping. Then eBay will charge the buyer the correct amount based on their location.

OP2 years agoHello- I provided ebay with exact box dimensions and weight before I listed the item.
I'll absorb the difference- but thank you for all your time.

Mentor2 years agoI see that the hoops you sold measure 20" in diameter. There is a surcharge for packages that measure more than 22" and a different surcharge if the box measures more than 30". For those reasons sellers will use either Fed Ex or UPS for shipping.

Customer service can not help you with actual shipping costs.
What was the buyer charged, and what are you seeing for the actual cost? Are you using the same service - usps ground advantage?

OP2 years agothanks for response- I quoted the buyer the amount ebay quoted me- buyer was charged that amount. I was charged about 7.00 more by ebay. It was only 5 days between listing and sale so rates didnt change. Same USPS ground service.

What are the amounts? I’m trying to look it up on the usps charts.
