Ebay seller wants to sell as local pick up, and then ship it to me??
I contacted an ebay seller to ask if they would be willing to ship an item that was listed as local pick up. It was for a small item (jacket). The seller stated that they would, but that the sale would be at a higher price. So the sale went from $59.99 (local pick up) to $79.99 (shipping). HOWEVER, the seller states that they are "unable" to change the listing from "local pickup" to "shipping", and that I should just complete the sale & message them my address for shipping.
I find this odd, as I have my own ebay listings & adjusting the shipping information is fairly straightforward. I even went into one of my listings to see if I could change it--and I could, quite easily. So, I'm not sure WHY this scenario is playing out like this.
I do not want to pay for an item that shows as local pick up (several states away) and then have no recourse to either get my item or my money back.
Am I wrong?? Has anyone ever ran into this type of situation before?

If he can change the price, he can change the shipping. I would not buy it this way. $20 also sounds like way too much to ship a jacket.
Ask him to change the price back to 59.99 and enter the correct info for shipping. Explain that he will not be able to enter a tracking # if he does not set it up for shipping.
You can get a refund for non-receipt on an item purchased for local pickup. I think you have to wait 14 days before you can open a not received claim. Just do not give the seller the pickup code until received.
If he can’t handle the changes, I would find another seller.
