eBay seller sold my stolen merchandise that cannot be used
On September 29, 2025, I purchased two eero routers on eBay (Item ID: 336191457566). When I attempted to set them up in late November, neither router would configure. After several hours of troubleshooting and speaking directly with eero technical support, I was informed that both routers were blocked by their owner.
When I explained that I was the owner, eero support advised that the routers were actually owned by a third-party ISP and had been blocked by that ISP. They confirmed the devices could not be activated and instructed me to contact the seller or the point of purchase for resolution.
I immediately contacted the eBay seller and notified him of the issue. The seller stated he would only issue a partial refund, claiming that eBay retained a portion of the funds as fees. He told me that if I wanted a full refund, I would need to contact eBay directly.
I then contacted eBay, explained the situation, and was told that a refund would be issued. However, I never received any refund from eBay. After waiting with no resolution, I contacted my credit card company and filed a chargeback.
In response, eBay disputed the chargeback, stating that they had no record of me attempting to return the merchandise, which is inaccurate. All communication with the seller is clearly documented in my eBay message history. Additionally, an eBay representative reviewed these messages with me when I escalated the issue to eBay’s Safety Department.
As a result of this situation, the routers are completely unusable and have no value to me. On the same day, I was forced to purchase replacement routers from Best Buy at a cost of approximately $700 and also paid $300 to an IT technician to diagnose the issue, which confirmed that the eBay routers were blocked and unusable.
Despite this, it is extremely difficult to reach a live representative at eBay. When I recently attempted to contact them again, I was routed to an automated system stating that because I disputed the charge with my credit card company, eBay could no longer assist me.
I am now out approximately $270 and left with two unusable routers, while the seller continues to list and sell similar routers online that belong to Frontier Communications. These devices appear to be ISP-owned and not legally transferable to consumers.

Mentor9 months agoI don't see anywhere in your post that you went through the correct Return Request process on Ebay within 30 days from delivery of the speakers. Ebay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers is valid for 30 days from date of delivery. Beyond that, only your credit card company could help you.
