Ebay selects what form of payment via PayPal and does not ask your permission.
I selected PayPal as my payment method, earlier today, and when I went to click review & checkout....EBAY internally went to my PayPal account and used a dormant checking account I initially used over 22 years ago to open an EBAY buyer account as well as the same day when I opened a PayPal account. Back then, EBAY required a physical checking account to verify a person was a human being.
EBAY has no right to take away the PayPal portal 'pop-up' window directing a person that they were leaving EBAY and being directed automatically to PayPal's website so you could log-in and then select which form of payment you want to use to finish the purchase transaction between you and the Seller on EBAY.
At this moment, I've paid this Seller with funds that I don't have in a dormant bank account that hasn't been used in 10-15 years AND I left around $10 in the account just to keep it open because it is considered 'seasoned' given I opened that bank account in the mid-1990s.
I was actually able to speak with a person this morning with PayPal. And, after well over an hour, the CSR told me EBAY has become notorious for doing what I experienced this morning and making PayPal take the fall until an unsuspecting buyer (me = victim) keeps trying to contact PayPal to ask for much needed help.
I have approximately 10 saved forms of payment, in my PayPal account, which most are used for business purchases large and small. PayPal gives you the option to PRE-SELECT a form of payment and allows you to make any form a payment the PREFERRED form of payment to expedite your shopping experience for both the Buyer and Seller.
EBAY has made it so they can bypass the Buyer's permission thus taking away their rights to choose from what account to pay for an item. EBAY has hurt me very much financially today. I have spent nearly 10+ hours frantically trying to contact PayPal, EBAY, and the Seller (they responded as soon as they got up this morning, thank goodness HOWEVER they were funded and the item has shipped early this morning....paid from a bank account that has almost no money in it as I haven't used that account in 10-15 years!!!!!
I've spoken directly, for over an hour very early this morning just after they opened and have tried multiple times to find a phone number to EBAY to ask for help. ZERO >:0

Mentor10 months agoWhen processing automatic payments for buyer purchases, Ebay only chooses the payment method the buyer has on file with Ebay, which in your case was Paypal. It sounds like you never removed the old checking account and still had it as the default payment source on Paypal.
Go here to view your payment sources you have on file on Ebay > https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list
and then go to your Paypal account to manage your payment sources.
