ebay search isn't
Why is it when I search something that the results often do not have anything to do with my intended search term?
I've been doing this since 1999. Searching was accurate then and thereafter for many years. I just searched for a specific screw size. ebay says they had 27 results. Not one was correct.
For several years it seemed the first few results were "promoted" items. That was annoying, but that's business I told myself.
Lately, no matches appear, but several results appear anyway.
I suppose I can go to Amazon. I don't like them at all, their searches stink too, but at least I know what I'm getting into. And I can return with no hassle.

What size are you searching for and how are you searching?
Searching fractional screw sizes by text keyword is very difficult because there are multiple ways that screw sizes can be written, and eBay's search has a hard time distinguishing between certain characters like spaces or slashes or decimal points.
If you can narrow to a specific category, you may be able to use filter options, which are somewhat easier to use than text keywords.

Pick a search that is not getting the results you want, provide a link to the search results and describe how it is not providing what you want. Someone may be able to suggest a better search.
That may give you some ideas how to improve other searches.
