*EBAY SCAM ALERT* Ebay is committing coupon fraud by not honoring coupons it promotes
A $50 coupon promotion showed up through the sellers tab on my mobile ebay app as shown from the screenshot I provided that stated:
Start selling and earn a $50 off coupon
Feb 24 - Mar 26
With a green circle that said Available within it
I had a really bad experience selling on ebay years ago so I stopped, but this coupon motivated me to start selling again, so I went ahead and listed my auctions and five were sold and paid for and I packed them up and shipped them all out the very next day and all were delivered with no complaints, however the $50 coupon didn't show up anywhere on my account.
When I called ebay about this, the rep said there was no record of any promotion for my account. Thank God I had the wherewithal to snap a screenshot of the promotion, so I sent it to the ebay rep and he created a ticket to have it escalated and told me I would hear back within three days, but that never happened, so I called back and I was transferred to the promotions department and the rep told me again that there was no record of any promotion, even though I had proof of it, and that even if there was such a coupon, that I didn't 'activate' it, even though there was NOTHING to activate because at the time when I tried to thumb the promotion to see if it linked to anything it didn't, so I assumed it automatically applied just like the free 250 first listings promotion automatically applied, but no.
She kept on repeating that it was my fault because I didn't activate the coupon, even though I tried to repeatedly respond by letting her know there was NOTHING to activate. I tried my best to let her know there was no link, no asterisk, no anything that would lead you to activate anything because the promotion block was dormant, just like how the free 250 listings promotion block was dormant, but things got nowhere and when I repeated myself to let her know that there was no indication for me to activate the coupon, she accused me of being unprofessional and made it very clear to me that she was not going to do anything to help me, then hung up on me, so after having gone through all of that I can only conclude with this:
Ebay is committing coupon fraud by baiting and switching in my case a $50 off coupon to motivate members to start selling in ebay, but when the memeber does list and complete the sale, ebay does not provide the coupon and uses the excuse that the coupon wasn't activated, even though there was no indication that it had to be activated in order to receive the coupon, so for all you members out there who do see that particular promotion just know ebay is scamming you by enticing you with a coupon to go through all the hassle with selling on ebay, but will not not honor it once you do sell and most importantly, when you do call about, the reps will come up with any excuse possible to blame you so they don't have to give you the coupon they promised.
Please keep in mind there are other alternative platforms you can use that won't try to scam you like ebay does and who actually care about you and value your hard work and loyalty.
