eBay scam
Hello eBay community, I recently purchased a coffee maker on eBay.
The seller provided tracking information via FedEx, and FedEx shows the item as delivered. However, the picture from FedEx delivery is not my address. Furthermore, the item in the picture is a small flat box, clearly by no means the actual item I ordered.
I contacted the seller but no answer was provided. I then contacted eBay for the money back guaranteed, but the customer representative said they "have checked the transaction details as well as the tracking details which were provided by your seller and I can see that the item is delivered to your checkout address." and closed the case. I sent an appeal.
If I check the shipping information from FedEx it only shows "San Francisco, CA". Then I ask for more information and a prompt asks for the original address to verify it is me, I enter the address from my account and the system says it is incorrect. Clearly it was not shipped to my address.
Any advice?
Thank you

OP2 years agoWent to FedEx and they told me they could not provide the "note on Company stationary saying in general that the shipping label's address was not yours." The only information they provided is that I should input my address with the tracking number and if its not a match it will say so: "The address you entered does not match our records. Please verify your information and try again."
eBay closed my appeal and will not refund. Customer service agents are giving me dumb answers that reflect they have no idea how to solve this. On the latest email they said the undertand I "wanted to return the item since it doesn't fit on your car." 🤣 An espresso machine in my car? Also, how can I return something that I never received?? That's the one thing I'm trying to get help for!
Also, this was the seller: https://www.ebay.com/usr/kansascity68

OP2 years agoThank you, the link provided has great information. I will go ahead and visit a FedEx store. I just wish I could get compensated for my time. Makes me not want to buy from eBay again really, better to just buy directly from the brand.

Mentor2 years agoDon't be too quick to blame eBay. Mis deliveries occur with any shipper and eBay cannot control where the shipper delivers the item. I have even had to track down Amazon packages that were not delivered correctly.

You are very welcome -- good luck getting your refund.
The issue you are having may be with a particular seller or with the seller's chosen drop-shipper. Rather than avoiding eBay entirely, you may want to consider avoiding new or inexperienced eBay sellers that appear to be drop-shipping.

If tracking shows delivery but you do not receive anything, check with the shipping service to determine if the tracking number corresponds to a delivery to your address.
If not, you may be the victim of a false tracking scam or the seller may have given you the wrong tracking number by mistake. Either way, see here for some good instructions about what you can do about it:

What kind of feedback for selling does your seller have? You can avoid many issues by choosing to only do business with sellers that have a proven track record of delivering what was sold and that have sold similar sorts of items before. Avoid new or unproven sellers, sellers with a pattern of serious negative feedback, or sellers that have drastically changed behavior or that have unexplained gaps in selling feedback.
If your seller is a drop-shipper, the seller may have been the victim of the company doing the drop-shipping and providing the tracking number.
