Ebay return label, item lost
I had sold a 10 gram gold bar when gold was up about a month or so ago and when it dropped the buyer tried to say it was fake even though I had the original receipt from liberty coins in the listing with a matching description. I called ebay and they told me to send an ebay label to the buyer and have him return it. Long story short fedex lost the package and they refunded the buyer because there was one delivery attempt (there wasnt, im the property manager for the building I live at and my phone number is on the front door and I have all the drivers phone numbers as well and never got a call). Ebay is saying now that I have to go through fedex and recoup the $100 basic insurance they have. The entire time while it was under review I called and they said there is seller protection so I would be fine but now they're saying im out of luck. What can I do?

Mentor5 months ago@discountsac Sorry to say that unless you used your OWN return label there is no insurance for eBay return shipping labels. All you can do is write the loss off on your taxes next year.
This is why I always advise sellers to provide their own return shipping labels. The way you do this is to require a RMA number, it can be any number you choose. Go to this page and toggle on RMA number option> https://www.ebay.com/rtn/Return/SellerRules
Then you buy the return shipping label on another site such as Pirateship.com. Then you can add insurance or it will come with the $100 insurance. The shipping price are the same as eBay.
Then you upload the tracking info and label to the return request>
When using your own carrier, make sure to upload the label and tracking details to the buyer’s return request. For items that have a total cost of $750 or more, signature confirmation is required.
