ebay removing valid listings under the guise it is against policy
Summary: rja649 expressed frustration about eBay's removal of glucose meter listings, believing they comply with policy but are flagged as violations. Despite contacting eBay, no clear reason for the removal was given, suggesting policies might be inconsistently applied due to AI. fashionsandbeauty4u and mam98031 explained eBay's enforcement and the risk of account restrictions, advising against relisting. mam98031 emphasized that eBay sets the rules, and all participants are volunteers trying to help. The discussion highlighted dissatisfaction with eBay's communication and enforcement over listing regulations.
i believe they are doing this to trash the account.............these are over the counter glucose meters.........glucose meters have been over the counter for decades............they remove them saying it is a prescription item.............appeal and they instantly turn it down...................now with all the dings, i expect to face seller acct restriction.............then when you find a way to request a chat, they never answer.............or request a call it never happens either.................

OP1 week agothere are no policy violations........these are allowed to be listed on ebay.......i got thru to the removal dept and they said if item is removed and no attempt to relist it.........the policy violation is also removed........she then asked the supposed "back room" about the item and they said it could not be relisted...........but she could not give a reason other than this particular meter is not allowed..............no reason explained about what policy was violated.........so with this ai any listing can be removed without reason.......and apparently a policy violation does not occur until you try and relist the item........we will see how that works out

Mentor1 week agoSome devices like this can be sold by sellers that get Ebay's approval to sell them BEFORE they start selling them. Ebay is not trying to "trash the account". By not following the policies of Ebay and/or the instructions they gave you in the emails they sent you on the removed listings, that is what is causing you serious problems. I would suggest you contact Ebay and find out if there is a way you can list this stuff within the rules of Ebay. They may or may not be accepting more sellers into the category, but you can at least ask.
At the top and bottom of every page in Ebay are links to contact Customer Service.
There is not just one way to contact Ebay and there has always been multiple ways to get in touch with them. I hope you will save this information as it can come in handy from time to time. At the very bottom is a link in which you can request Ebay to call you.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://www.instagram.com/ebay/
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT or ask an Agent to call you, in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

From this link you can request Ebay to call you in the USA. The option is available when Staff is available to respond, so NOT 24/7/365.

Mentor1 week agoMaybe there is, but only time will tell. As of right now, which is your issue, you can't. While these monitors may not be by prescription only, some are and Ebay does not currently distinguish between the two. You are not being picked on nor is Ebay trying to ruin your business. Current rules are what they are, Ebay's enforcement of them is what it is. At this time you can't sell them as Ebay has told you. If you were to continue to try, you will continue to get policy violations. Too many of those and Ebay will Sanction your account.

OP1 week agoI HAVE LIKE 15 LISTED.... GLUCOSE METERS THAT USE TEST STRIPS DO NOT REQUIRE A PRESCRIPTION...NONE.........GOT THRU TO A REP IN THE REMOVAL DEPT AND SHE RECHECKED AND SAID THIS METER CANNOT BE LISTED....BUT NO REASON GIVEN.....BUT THE OTHERS DO NOT HAVE A POLICY VIOLATION AND ARE STILL LISTED...........SO YOU CANNOT TRUST EBAY POLICIES........AND WITH AI ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.....SHE ALSO SAID AS LONG AS NOT RELISTED, THE POLICY VIOLATION IS REMOVED.......THIS MAY BE A CHANGE IN EBAY POLICY DUE TO AI REMOVING LISTINGS............BUT THAT POLICY IS NOT STRICTLY ENFORCED......AND I ASSUME CAN BE CHANGED.......

Mentor1 week agoClearly you know the difference. All caps mean you are yelling at us or maybe me more specifically. Totally unnecessary. You came here for more information that possibly may help you, because you don't like what is being said doesn't me you yell at me or us. It just means you don't agree. You have every right to disagree with any of us that tries to help you.
While you may want your argument to be with me, it really isn't. It is Ebay that is blocking your listings or taking them down, that is between you and Ebay. I can't help you with that. I just tried to give you information that may help you to better understand the problem. But again you have every right to disagree with what I've said. That of course doesn't mean I'm wrong, it just means you disagree. I wish you the best.

OP1 week agoI AM NOT YELLING AT ALL......JUST YOU............YOU APPEAR TO BE WHAT I CALL AN "EBAYS SELLER" IT HOW YOU COME ACROSS............ALL IN EBAYS FAVOR........I REALLY DO NOT NEED YOUR HELP? THANKS

Mentor1 week agoWe don't have to agree with what actions Ebay takes, it is their site, so they can do as they please withing the laws that apply to them. For any of us to agree with their policies or disagree doesn't mean a lot. I respect that you don't agree with what they did, however that changes nothing. And there is nothing any of us can do to help you with this issue. You have to work directly with Ebay in order to resolve the matter. All of us here are Ebay members that volunteer our time to try and help others. I'm sorry that doesn't seem to sit well with you. I do however wish you the best.

Mentor1 week agoI don’t want to rain on anyone's parade but used or opened diabetic supplies are kind of unsanitary. Even if new, once opened, they’re essentially used, in my opinion.

If you have had listings taken down repeatedly for the same policy violation, you are correct that the next step is either restricting or suspending your account. Either way, due to relisting items that you aware eBay considers a violation, you are most likely on eBay's radar.
Contacting an eBay phone agent will not get the violations and appeals reversed.
Honestly, the only solution is to not tempt fate by listing them again on eBay.
rja649
OP1 week agoTHE POINT IS THEY DO NOT VIOLATE THEIR POLICY..........THEY REMOVED SEVERAL WITH NO REASON GIVEN....EVEN AFTER SPEAKING ON THE PHONE...NO EXPLANATION WHY REMOVED...JUST SAID NOT ALLOWED.....THAT MEANS THAT THEIR POLICIES ARE TO BE CONSTRUED AS A GENERAL RULE..........SO YOU WILL NEVER REALLY KNOW IF SOMETHING IS ALLOWED UNTIL IF AND WHEN IT IS REMOVED BY AI...THEN YOU APPEAL AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS..........AND APPARENTLY THE POLICY VIOLATIONS DISAPPEAR AS LONG AS NOT RELISTED..........THIS IS A NEW POLICY COMPARED TO THE OLD POLICY......APPARENTLY DUE TO AI REMOVING LISTINGS

Mentor1 week agoPlease stop yelling at those you don't agree with. It changes nothing.
Also please keep in mind that we are all volunteers here. We aren't paid a dime for spending our personal time trying to help other members that are in need of helping hand.
We all understand your point. No one has said you have done anything wrong, we have just tried to explain how Ebay works. We all get it that you don't like it. You have some great points. But none of us can change the rules for you or how Ebay applies them, no matter how much you yell at us.
