Ebay removed a buyer's account and canceled a purchase.
I sold an item early morning and received a message from ebay late evening stating that the order had been canceled and that the buyer's account had been removed due to an issue. They also stated to not contact or reply to any messages from him until I contact ebay first. They gave me a list of choices, I will post them below hiding the buyer's info.
Well the new buyer (0) paid before this took place and it looks like ebay processed and sent me the payout. He has also contacted me from another account telling me that he was the buyer and that his address was incorrect. That I needed to add Suite E into the address
Here’s what you should do
- Don’t complete the sale or ship the item to Buyer if you haven’t done so yet.
- Don’t communicate any further with Buyer, especially if they get in touch with you outside of eBay.
- If Buyer requests a payment or refund, don’t send any money without contacting eBay first. If payment was processed, a refund has not been issued yet just in case you’ve already shipped the item.
- If you already sent the item, contact the shipper to find out if you can stop the delivery and have the item returned to you.
- If your listing has ended, you can relist your item.
Well the item was listed as a Buy It Now, they completely removed the listing from ebay. So I assume this meant it was ended. I did not ship the item out, so I relisted the item.
Now about the payment I received, do I just wait for ebay to refund the money to the buyer or do I need to file a claim with them??? This is all new to me as I have never had this type of issue.

Thank you for the quick reply. The item was not shipped. Luckily I received the message before the item was processed.
As mentioned above, his account and the actual listing was removed. I also received a paid out message for the item from ebay a day or two ago.
But it is still asking me to ship the item, also shows the shipping is overdue by a couple of days.
If I go into the order details and then click on the more action button, it gives me the option to cancel the order. Should I cancel it or just wait for ebay to do there thing?
Thanks tw

·2 years ago@tware79084 No, don't cancel. None of the cancellation options apply to this situation. When they process the refund, the system will catch up and void the order.

OP2 years agoThanks again for the quick reply. I am still learning how to navigate here.
But the buyer has already contacted me twice from two different accounts which makes me believe he is a scammer. Ebay has done nothing as of yet, so hopefully soon it will be taken care of.
Appreciate the help, tks tw

·2 years agoHi @tware79084 See the third bullet point. Wait for eBay to process the refund. The only thing you need to do is void/cancel the shipping label, if you paid for the label before eBay sent that notice.
