Ebay refunding customer from my account for a damaged part by UPS
I sold a $1300 part to a customer and UPS damaged the part and Ebay is making me refund the customer. Ebay told me to file a claim with UPS and get me money back, but UPS denied the claim immediately after filling out the paperwork and including the certification of the strength of the carboard box used. This is the second time ebay has done that to me. I can't control UPS or any other carrier on how they ship something. Any recourse on this, or is this just another screw the seller by ebay?

Mentor3 years agoFirst denial is almost automatic, file an appeal. Make sure you include all needed documentation and photos. Make sure buyer saves item and packaging as UPS may want to pick the item up for inspection. If they do, they will either pay the claim and keep the item, or not pay the claim and return it to you. If item is repairable you can also make a partial claim to cover the repair so the buyer can keep the item.
If are going to use UPS (or FedEx) for expensive items, do not do it through ebay. Use your own account so you can deal directly with UPS when there is a problem.

Mentor3 years agoThe seller is responsible for getting the item to the buyer in listed condition. If he doesn't do that, he is required to refund. You agree to this and all eBay policies each time you list an item or use the site.
eBay can't guarantee the carrier will honor your claim - you are responsible for packaging the item so that damage won't occur.
If you purchased your label through eBay for your UPS shipment, did you file your insurance claim per these instructions?
