Ebay provided shipping label issue

I recently, 8/3, shipped an item using the Ebay provided shipping label. It went from UPS to USPS and I got a notice from USPS that it had inadequate postage. I've contacted both UPS and USPS at the local offices and was given numbers to call to get an answer. Neither company can verify where it is or how to remedy the situation. The last know place it departed was posted on 8/11, but USPS only sees a recorded date of 8/6 as the last known place/time. Has anyone had any experience with the shared shipping and an inadequate postage on the Ebay provided label?

Usually, if there is inadequate postage, USPS will charge your eBay account.
Was this the Gore tex jacket? Did you ship to the Authenticator?
Be sure to always enter the correct weight and dimensions when you list your item, and use Calculated Shipping. (You should never need to type a price, that means you are using a fixed price shipping.)
Don't rely on eBay weight and dimensions estimates; they can be incorrect.
