Ebay overcharging USPS Ground Labels
I have contacted eBay several times now in concerns to overcharges on USPS Ground labels. (wasting my time and energy trying to convey) The prices shown to me threw ebay labels are several dollars to double what the same size and weight to what is charged directly threw USPS. (not every label is overcharged its about 1 in 10) But talking to customer service gets me nowhere. Just had another one today USPS Ground threw ebay wanted over $11. for a label and it was only $7.12 threw USPS. Customer service tells me that there can't be an issue and won't escalate the issue as its all comes directly from the post office.
Someone is making a lot of money off the top of this scam or error. I was asked for evidence and given no way of providing it. Zero initiative on the staff to fix this problem. This has been going on Since September 2025.
I catch most of the overcharges when I see Fedex is alot cheaper and bought labels direct fro USPS. But I know I have overpaid on labels especially when it wasn't obvious I was being overcharged. ( That doesn't even include having not received discounts on labels, when forced to get labels directly) (also getting late for updating tracking because I forgot to add tracking right away.)
Customer service going so far as saying there was a discrepancy on my part size or weight being a reason. Telling them which should be a no brainer that yes I had the same weight size and all being USPS Ground.
I have been selling on eBay for 14+ years, I was rather irritated by that.

Thank you for the screenshots.
As @golfingaddict pointed out, you have 'irregular' package selected.
Click that edit button and select 'Standard box, envelope, polybag' and the surcharge will go away.

Mentor5 months agoYou are charged a surcharge for shipping in irregular Package. What are you using to ship this item? Set it to standard package and you will see the same price as the USPS click ship price

OP6 months agoYes hazmat and anything else is not checked.
The problem is a glitch in the system I believe. Also the items that have had issues were older listings.

Can you give me some specific examples?

That sounds frustrating.
1) Can you check to be sure that the 'irregular package' or hazardous materials options aren't selected on these? That adds $4 or more to the label.
When you are printing your label, here is where to find it

These options should be set like this (unless it is hazardous or irregular)
2) For items over 22" or over 30" long, USPS now charges a surcharge and thus UPS may be more cost effective.

OP6 months agoI even went back to 100% be sure. As the last sale with this issue was yesterday. So could redo the label (which I didnt need to do) but could see it was not marked hazmat.
eBay wanted $10.54 for USPS ground it was $7.12 using the post office click and ship item was 10 ounces and 6x2x2
