Ebay overcharging on shipping
Summary: in-my-cedar-chest is experiencing an issue with eBay's shipping charges, where packages are mistakenly being charged at a higher weight rate, causing overcharges of $2.00 to $3.00 per package. golfingaddict explains that shipping rates are affected by destination, especially rural areas, where the rate is the same regardless of weight. jacbarcollectibles adds that recent USPS changes mean items under one pound are charged as 15.99 ounces in some regions, leading to increased costs. in-my-cedar-chest is concerned about adjusting shipping prices without overcharging customers.
I have to get my shipping out and my problem is that for some reason many of my packages keep being charged the full amount of 70lbs prices on Ground Advantage.
It is not charging the 4 oz package price it should be and I have tried and tried to get it to change. I am paying 2.00 to 3.00 more on my packages for each one that is doing this and I dont know what to do.
I pray ebay will fix this problem and refund the overage we are being charged.
Is this happening to other people? This is so distressing. I have to get my mail out so I keep printing this overcharged shipping!!!

MentorJul 13, 2026 at 9:09 PMThe USPS made changes to shipping rates over the weekend to Ground Advantage services and for some areas the shipping charges for items under one pound will now be charged as 15.99 ounces and not the actual weight. So some areas will see an increase in their shipping charges for light weight items.

MentorJul 13, 2026 at 8:33 PMI just checked a few of my listings. I put in the shipping weight of 4 ounces, 8 ounces and 12 ounces (My typical weights of shipment) For two items, the price was the regular low price.
On one of them, to a very rural address across the country, the price did not change. I was the same price for 4, 8 and 12 ounces (when I input them all.)
Here is the catch: The rural areas are going to be charged more for shipping labels.

Here is eBay's response.
For eBay Labels Ground Advantage shipments under 1 lb to rural zip codes, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and military addresses, USPS will charge the same rate within each zone regardless of weight in ounces.
For the continental United States, the tiered-weight structure remains in place.

OPJul 13, 2026 at 9:12 PMThank you for your assistance. I wonder how we can adjust our shipping prices for this type of thing. I have a set price shipping of 6.95 no matter how much they purchase. But these are coming out way more than my set price. They are like 8.07 or so.
I don't want to have to charge others more though.
