Ebay overcharging for shipping?
I am shipping an item USPS Ground Advantage. I put my items dimensions and weight in and shipping is $8.75, but ebay has charged buyer $28.15. SO, do they get refunded the difference between $28.15 and $8.75? What happens to that difference? Does Ebay get it. I want to refund it to my buyer, but I don't want to get screwed on the transaction. Hmmmm?

You made a mistake on setting up the shipping when you created the listing, it happens. For the one Sold platter shows shipping below in the pic. ... $ 35.25 ... that is an awful lot for one platter.
You Refund the Buyer the shipping overage, eBay is not involved. Use the pull-down menu on the Sold item (on the left) and got towards the bottom of the menu list and select "Send refund" then process the refund amount on the page that opens.

Mentor2 years agoIs this for the Lenox Holiday Dimension Collection Oval Serving Platter 16-1/4" Holly Berry EXC ? I see $35.15 shipping to me in 92802.
If you are seeing $8.75 shipping, that would be the cost to ship to Montgomery, TX, where you are located.

Mentor2 years agoDo not refund until your find out for sure what happen. If you made a mistake when actually purchasing the label and USPS finds it, they will back charge you the difference, then you will be out $20.
Recheck the listing information and make sure it matches the information used to actually pay for the label.
What was the Item Number?
What was the weight, dimensions, and to/from Zip Code?

Mentor2 years agoIf the package is 3 LB and under 22", the $8.75 is correct for a zone 5 shipment, it is not showing you the shipping to your own zip when you purchase a label.
As @rfmtm suggests, purchase the label with the correct weight and dimensions before determining any refund.

Mentor2 years agoIf you want to refund the difference to the buyer, you need to that - eBay will not do it automatically.
The buyer is charged retail prices unless you specify that you want to share your discount, but that would not be $20 difference - it would only be a few $. Are you sure you entered the same dimensions that you used for your label? Since there are surcharges for longer packages, it could cause a difference.
Or is it possible you accidentally put $20 in as a handling charge? You have another serving piece where the shipping is $8.15, so it looks like there is $20 being added to the platter.
