Ebay New Cancellation Policy & Handling Time
If a listing has handling time, forsay 3 days, and the item sells, if the seller marks it shipped immediately, does it negate the handling time that was included in the listing? Will Ebay system not recognize the 3 day handling time in this scenario?

Mentor2 years agoAre you the seller? The estimated delivery date starts ticking as soon as you mark as shipped. Playing the game of printing a label but not actually shipping until days later will catch up with you and you will earn defects for late shipments and deliveries. Do not mark it as shipped until you are actually shipping it. You can also earn negative feedback for upsetting buyers, as they see this as the seller trying to trick them.

If you mark an item as shipped, the buyer will not be able to request a cancellation through the formal cancellation process, but he can still request one through messaging. Sellers who mark items as shipped to avoid a cancellation request are not performing very good customer service.
Other than for cancellation requests, marking an item as shipped really means nothing. What designates an item as shipped is the acceptance scan you get from the carrier when you hand the package over to them. If your handling time is 3 days, then you have three days to get that scan so that eBay (and the buyer) know the package is on the way.
If you pay for shipping at the carrier instead of using eBay labels, be sure to enter the tracking number to the transaction as soon as you return.
