eBay needs to stop allowing the sell of counterfeit coins on its site!!!
In Feb and March, I purchased a bunch of old collectable, silver coins. After taking them to a local coin dealer, I learned that 16 were counterfeit. The Hobby Protection Act of 1973 requires that replica coins be marked with the word 'COPY', yet none of these coins complied with the Act. These coins were made in China, specifically to scam U.S. citizens!!!
As I write this the price of silver is $32.52 per ounce (4/15/25 12:24 PM CT). The silver dollar coins are 1-ounce coins. They should not be selling below the current price of silver. Now, run a search for , '2025 Silver Eagle dollar coin', and select the "Buy it Now" option. Scroll down the list and select coins selling below the current silver price. Click on the Seller's username, and then click 'About'. All these sellers are located in China and the Philippians! Search old collectable coins like, Morgan Dollars, Seated Liberty Dollars, and Trade Dollars, look for low prices, and you'll find even more Chinese fakes!
eBay is allowing, and profiting from, the sell of 1000s of counterfeit coins from China!! eBay is a traitor to the United States! "The U.S. Mint does not sell new US Silver Eagles directly to the public. Instead, these coins are distributed through a nationwide network of dealers and other authorized providers." There are NO authorized dealers in China! So how can Chinese sellers offer silver U.S. coins, below the price of silver?!?
eBay, prove me wrong and STOP allowing the sale of U.S. coins from ALL sellers located outside the U.S.!!!

·1 year agoeBay doesn't allow the sale of counterfeit coins, or any other counterfeit item. They cannot, however, effectively police every item listed for sale, nor would it be reasonable to restrict sales to a single country for a worldwide site. If you're looking to buy such items, you are responsible for some of your own due diligence in vetting the seller.
There is a Report Item link on every item page, but do not count on anything being done from a single report from someone who hasn't actually purchased that item.
